How times flies, friends! It has been a year now since Where the Pavement Turns to Sand was released, and I wanted to take a moment to thank all you fine folks who ordered it, picked it up, borrowed it from the library, or in any other way helped support the project. Cheers to you, big time, good buddy!
I’ve enjoyed reading these stories in a variety of in person, online, and on air situations over the past couple years, and I’m glad they’re connecting with folks out there in the wide world. There’s still a little more I’d like to do with the collection, but I’ve also got a few other projects needing time and attention, so we’ll see how she goes over the next little bit here. But in the meantime, if you haven’t picked up a copy, please do! Or ask your library to bring it in to your local branch. Or buy a couple copies for gifts this holiday season? It’s all good, friend. Thank you.
If you’ve already done all that, mucho gracias, for real. Maybe spread a little word online or among your book club buds? Or leave a Goodreads review?
If you’re looking to get your mitts on this puppy, here are some options: I’d suggest your local bookstore, or direct from the publisher or distributor. You can also hit me up, especially if you live in Winnipeg or Canada. And don’t forget: the library is an option, and if your local library doesn’t have it, you can always request they do so. I’m sure they’d bring it in for ya, if you asked politely?
Now. On to more pressing matters. I’ve had three little stories published this fall, which is nice, seeing as I hadn’t had anything out since the spring. I’ve been working on a few longer pieces and projects lately, which has been fun and exciting, but doesn’t result in the rush of seeing something published and (hoping) people are reading it. So here ya go. Hope you dig!
“Three Pelicans” — a sad little flash fiction ditty inspired by the sun and the waves and my son splashing in the lake, the fleeting nature of it all. Thanks to Alan ten-Hoeve and Farewell Transmissions for giving it a home.
“Co-op cigar” — another little shorty that I had been kicking around. Thought maybe it was the start to something, but then figured if I leaned into keeping it as concise as possible, the story might present itself in 400 words or less. Thanks to Kirsti MacKenzie and HAD for believing!
“Big bird” — a longer piece that found a home with Mythic Picnic, an interesting publication that lives and dies on Twitter. Not sure what it is about this one, but I dig it, and hope you will too. Thanks to Mark at MP for taking a chance on the big bird.
Well, friends, that’s all for now. Hope you all have a happy Halloween and we’ll catch up with you on the other side. Cheers.
