Hey friends, just dipping in here to pump the tires on a new collection of poetry from my guy DT Robbins real quick. This isn’t a review so much as it is a note to say I got a real kick outta This is what happens when you leave me alone, & I reckon you might, too.
I’m a big fan of what DT has done with Rejection Letters, and I really dig the fiction that he’s put out into the world (at least, that which I’ve come across). I hadn’t seen much of his poetry, but Twitter would have me believe he’s been hard (?) at work on this collection for the past year.
This little bit of professional advice rings true in my experience as a performer, and had me LOLing with my pals in the group chat, big time.
See? Poetry can be fun as hell. DT proves as much here. Earnest, irreverent, contemplative, and just plain silly poetry abound, often on the same page. Spicing it up with Pro Writer Tips throughout, mix it all up like a recipe, and you’ve got yourself a good way to spend a half hour.
So pop the top off a personality pop, or pour a glass of whisky, take a taste of that electric lettuce and kick back and enjoy it, bud.
I’ll be back again later this month with something new for you. Until then, taker easy.
